Bio

Dr. Adam Hanieh is a Reader in Development Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. He holds a PhD in Political Science from York University, Canada and his research focuses on the political economy of the Middle East, migration, and class/state formation in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council. He is a member of the advisory board of the Centre for Palestine Studies (SOAS) and co-chair of the Centre for Migration and Diaspora Studies (SOAS). He is the author of several books on the Middle East, most recently Money, Markets, and Monarchies: The Gulf Cooperation Council and the Political Economy of the Contemporary Middle East (Cambridge University Press, 2018).
